CME Cocoa set for weak finish today; down 0.56% to $3,000 per metric tonne with 43 minutes before close

Cocoa is down to $3,000 per metric tonne, after ending yesterday at $3,017. Overall, a 0.56% loss or $17 today.

Highly important Core Durable Goods Orders data from United States beat analyst expectations of 0% with a reading of -0.2%. United States Pending Home Sales released earlier showed a marked improvement to 0% from the preceding data of -5.2%, but fell short of the 0.5% figure forecast by a consensus of market analysts.

Meanwhile, United States Core PCE Price Index (MoM) (Apr) came out at 0.4, while a consensus of analysts was expecting 0.3.

Taking a look at other Softs commodities, negative performances are evident as Coffee is down to $180.85, losing $1.85, after closing at $182.7 in the preceding trading session.

Positive performances can be seen by looking at other Softs markets as having closed the previous session at $24.83, Sugar is up 2.34% today to currently trade at around $25.41. Cotton gained 4.39% and is now trading at $83.64.

Over the past 7 days, the Cocoa future has retreated 1.76% from a noteworthy peak of $3,071.
