Markets are down midway through the trading session

  • Sotera Health moves 15% halfway through the session As things stand, Bright Health (down 7.6%) and iShares Trust – iShares iBonds Dec 2021 Term Treasury ETF (down 0.039%) are underperforming today
  • European markets have struggled to gain ground and are now trading lower midway through the session.

With the trading session well underway, the leading indices are falling — Dow Jones trades at 30,683 after losing 1.08%. S&P 500 drawing back 1.08% to 3,858. Nasdaq slipping 0.69% and closing at 11,455.

European markets are down as CAC is currently down 1.35% and trading around 5,979.47. Asia-Pacific session in progress; markets are rising as ASX 200 added 1.29% to trade at 6,806.4.

The earnings season is coming to an end and Adobe and FedEx Corp have release their reports.

Amid the market gloom, United States Building Permits (Aug) released today at 12:30 UTC with a figure of 1.52 million, while the previous figure was 1.69 million. United States Housing Starts (Aug) came out at 1.57 million, while a consensus of analysts was expecting 1.45 million. United States Building Permits came out at -10%.

With markets struggling for positive sentiment, upcoming macro data could potentially attract buyers in the market as United States Crude Oil Inventories projected to decline to 2.32 million while previous data was 2.44 million; data will be released tomorrow at 14:30 UTC. United States Initial Jobless Claims expected to decline to 218,000 while its preceding data was 213,000, data will be available Thursday.

Furthermore, United States Interest Rate figure is projected at 3.25. It previously stood at 2.5; data will be released tomorrow at 18:00 UTC.

Sotera Health is currently trading at $8.36 after declining 15%. As things stand, Bright Health (down 7.6%), iShares Trust – iShares iBonds Dec 2021 Term Treasury ETF (down 0.039%) are also underperforming today.
