Risk-on mood pushes the Nikkei 0.37% higher

Today at a glance: with a daily low of 30,864, Nikkei closed today at 30,916, after ending yesterday at 30,800 and gaining 116.31 points (0.37%).

Meanwhile, Japan CFTC JPY speculative net positions released today at 20:30 UTC with a figure of -80,700, while the previous figure was -64,800. Japan Tokyo Core CPI (YoY) (May) came out at 3.2, while a consensus of analysts was expecting 3.3. Japan CPI Tokyo Ex Food and Energy (MoM) (May) released yesterday at 23:30 UTC with a figure of 0.2, while the previous figure was 0.7.

Other markets are also showing gains as notably, Nasdaq rose 2.19% today and closed at 12,700. S&P 500 is trading around 4,205.45 after ending today's session at 4,151.28 (up 1.3% today).

Meanwhile, Hang Seng lost 1.93% today and closed at 19,100.

The index has been trending positively for about a month. The Nikkei hit a significant low of 15.42 around 8 months ago, but has since recovered 199,648%.
