Trading day in full swing, markets are up so far

  • European markets are trending positively as FTSE rises by 0.53%, reaching 7,231.

The trading session is well on its way, markets are up as Dow Jones up 0.47%, trading at 30,852. S&P 500 up to 3,874.17, gaining 0.47%. Nasdaq up to 11,454, gaining 0.25%.

European session in progress; markets are rising as FTSE added 0.53% to trade at 7,231. Asia-Pacific markets are dropping as ASX 200 falls to 6,700.2 (down 1.56%).

The earnings season is coming to an end and Adobe and General Mills Inc have release their reports.

On a negative note, the market received some disappointing news as highly important Crude Oil Inventories data from United States beat analyst expectations of 2.16 million with a reading of 1.14 million.

Today's rise takes place amid mixed market indicators — United States Existing Home Sales (Aug) came out at 4.8 million, while a consensus of analysts was expecting 4.7 million. United States Building Permits (Aug) released yesterday at 12:30 UTC with a figure of 1.52 million, while the previous figure was 1.69 million.

Also worthy of note, projections for United States Initial Jobless Claims are set for a continuation of decline with 218,000 while previous data was 213,000; data will be released tomorrow at 12:30 UTC.

Elsewhere, United States Interest Rate figure is projected at 3.25. It previously stood at 2.5; data will be released today at 18:00 UTC. United States FOMC Statement is expected today at 18:00 UTC.

While indices are generally bullish today, some individual stock performances stood out as General Mills trades at $80.67 having gained 6.97%.

Sotera Health tumbles 7.56% to trade at $7.58. IShares Trust – iShares iBonds Dec 2021 Term Treasury ETF (down 0.039%) has also underperformed today.

General Mills explodes to $80.67 after quarterly performance report

Heading in the same direction for now — after closing yesterday at $75.41, General Mills went up to $81.04 only to drop back some of the way, and is now trading at $80.67. General Mills is currently trading with a market cap of $48 billion with an average daily volume of 3.47 million shares. So far in 2022, it has been outperforming the S&P 500 by 36.51%.

General Mills reported mixed earnings results today, with EPS at 1.11 (compared to a consensus of 0.9925 Earnings Per Share) and revenue of $4.71 billion.
