US equities under pressure at the start of today's session

  • Ford Motors tumbles 10.17% as session gets underway As things stand, Vanguard Total International Bond ETF (down 0.698%) and iShares Trust – iShares iBonds Dec 2021 Term Treasury ETF (down 0.039%) are underperforming today
  • European markets have struggled to gain ground and are now trading lower midway through the session.

The trading session is underway and the leading indices are currently lower — Dow Jones slipping 1.2% and closing at 30,647. S&P 500 drawing back 1.17% to 3,854.27. Nasdaq trades at 11,429 after losing 0.91%.

European markets have struggled to gain ground and are now trading lower midway through the session. Asia-Pacific markets are up as ASX 200 added 1.29% to trade at 6,806.4.

The earnings season is coming to an end and Adobe and FedEx Corp have release their reports.

Amid the market gloom, United States Building Permits (Aug) came out at 1.52 million, while a consensus of analysts was expecting 1.61 million. United States Housing Starts (Aug) released today at 12:30 UTC with a figure of 1.57 million, while the previous figure was 1.40 million. United States Building Permits came out at -10%.

Looking ahead, ongoing depreciation may be prolonged as as things stand, upcoming United States Crude Oil Inventories data is projected to fall short of market expectations with newly published data of 2.32 million, following on from the preceding figure of 2.44 million. New data is set to be published tomorrow at 14:30 UTC. Thursday data for United States Initial Jobless Claims will be released, with an expected decline to 218,000 from the preceding figure of 213,000.

Furthermore, United States Interest Rate figure is projected at 3.25. It previously stood at 2.5; data will be released tomorrow at 18:00 UTC.

Ford Motors is trading at $13.41, tumbles 10.17%. As things stand, Vanguard Total International Bond ETF (down 0.698%), iShares Trust – iShares iBonds Dec 2021 Term Treasury ETF (down 0.039%) are also underperforming today.

IShares Trust – iShares iBonds Dec 2021 Term Treasury ETF has been pretty quiet for the last a month, trading mostly flat and moving by only 0.02 cents on average.

Today's losses are adding to a 4 day bearish run, during which Vanguard Total International Bond ETF lost 19 cents of its value.
